Bev and Keith first met whilst taking evening classes in Art at Blackburn College, where we were both looking to explore our passion for creativity and relax from our day jobs in Education. We then went on to study together for Degrees in Fine Art, and became good friends, graduating in 2008.
We were also united by a determination to forge careers in Art and continued to work together on several projects, producing our own work and working with communities.
It was while working together on two big Community Projects in Blackburn that we made the decision to set up our own Art Studio facilities to give us a space to work and the opportunity to help promote the careers of other artists. After a long search we finally discovered our premises in Wellgate, Clitheroe in 2012, and Ribble Valley Art Studios was born.
Now called Atelier Arts, we still value the friendship which started all and which continues to be an important part of what we have created. Atelier Arts retains the same principles we started out with in 2012, to inspire and to be inspired, to build a community of artists and to promote Art in the Ribble Valley.
We are passionate about promoting art and artists and building a network of people engaged with and developing their practice and friendships through art. Art can change lives, it can soothe the soul, bring people together and can help individuals to grow. We love the fact that we see these things happening every time we step through the door.
Not only are we a working environment but we also exhibit and sell work. All visitors are welcome to view the work we have on show.
Our Studios and Gallery are a place where both professional and leisure artists can come together to learn from and to help each other. We provide affordable studio spaces, creative and professional critique and advice, and opportunities to learn, all in a supportive, friendly and inspiring environment.
We ourselves are inspired, not just by art, but by the growth and development we share with our colleagues.
